Hi, I must admit that I have felt guilty many times thinking that I have not been updating my blog due to my really tight schedule this past months. So i decided to post a few pictures from my recent trip to Jakarta last week.

I was conducting a Charity Hi Tea event organized by the Malaysian Embassy to raise fund for the street children of Jakarta.

It was graced by our very own DPM's wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman and attended by a few cabinet Ministers wives of Indonesia , ambassadors wives and well known entrepreneurs groups and socialites of Jakarta.

It was always great to work and collaborate with the Embassy as it is the best platform to network with the who's who of Indonesia and to learn more about their culture and their way of life.

I truly treasure and value this great opportunity given to me and I thank god for his blessing and the people involved who had trusted my abilities and had faith in me of which I trust it will be a longterm collaboration. I

I treat Jakarta as my second home. It's either you love it or you hate it. I love it as I see so many business potential that I can explore there provided you team up with the right people.

A Hopefull Year 2011

As I was putting my daughter to sleep I just realized how fast she had grown up . It seems like only yesterday that I bought her diapers and now I'm already buying her bras and lipstick!

I must admit that sometimes I regret missing all those moments where she needed me to comb her hair or read to her bedtime stories...simply because I've been too busy trying to fullfill my dreams and trying to reach my goals...

Sometimes I ask myself ..why can't I just be contented with what I have rather than keep striving for more and wanting more and more...

But then again I don't think I'm greedy either. What's wrong with being ambitious and to dream big? Everything started from my dreams ....

When you dream of wanting something you will work on it to make it into reality and it makes living a life with a purpose and it becomes colorful and exciting.

I believe we must explore life's adventures and turn it into our own unique story.

Well sometimes I've been told to take it easy and to relax but it's like you're on the treadmill and suddenly it stops and you find yourself still moving...it's weird coz you feel you need to keep the momentum going or you might become complacent.

A lot of things have been planned for this year and I am so looking forward to it. However I just need to also manage my time well with my family as they are my main priority. Many times my daughter would say to me mom you are always on the phone you never talk to me anymore. Gosh I feel so guilty and as I took everything for granted and how it must have affected her .
I promise myself to be a more attentive mom from now on and I really want to.

I suddenly came to realize that it's good to have big dreams and goals but you must not allow it to take a toll in your life untill you forget what is really important to you and the people you love in your life.

When you think you have done everything in your best abilities then it's time to just leave it to god and don't worry too much. Spend more quality time with family and the rest will just fall into the right place.

So it will be a hopeful year for me this year as I hope to accomplish many things but at the same time also hoping to be a better mom ... I love my family very much and this is something that I need to do as I can't afford to hurt them .

Yes I have made many mistakes along the way and maybe got a little bit carried away but then again I always believe that everything happens for a reason and certain people came into your life for a purpose... valuable lesson learned.

The Mystique of Bali

It has been quite a great closure of 2010 as far as business developments are concerned. I feel blessed that most of the strategic planning worked thoroughly well and I have only this to say – there are some things cooking and you’ll hear about our latest projects [ Adamaya] soon!

Then to wrap up the year and welcome 2011 , my family and I were invited by our new found friends from Indonesia to Bali in conjunction with the launch of his latest club in Kuta cum Hotel called Stones. We were chauffeur driven the whole entire trip and was provided a luxurious Villa in Seminyak to stay for 6 days. We had a great time exploring Bali and enjoyed every minute of our holiday . Though at times I could recall friends telling me to be cautious and be extra careful especially in Bali. At the back of my mind I thought they must be referring to Tsunami or Bombing….

Yes I was cautious ..but I guess it slipped my mind to be extra careful …taking things for granted as so far everything was going so well and peaceful until……..

On the day after celebrating New Year my husband and I wanted to change more Rupiahs so without hesitating much we went to one of the money changers kiosk at the road side of ‘Legian’ a shopping area in Bali. We saw a few foreigners changing their currencies there and we thought.. ok we’ll do it there.

There were 4 of them, 2 at the counter handling the money and another 2 persons outside the counter talking to the clients. They offered 3million Rupiahs for 1 thousand Ringgit and it was quite a good offer. But I suddenly I felt weird when they said that some of the serial numbers on our Ringgit notes were not acceptable..but still we obliged and gave them 1 Thousand Ringgit and they slowly counted their Rupiahs in 20, 000 Rupiah notes with a total of 3 million right in front of us while we watched on.

During this time my instincts started to caution me that something was not right when the other 2 persons were trying to make petty conversation with me such as where i was from, where did we stay and were we on our honeymoon….etc as if to divert my attention from concentrating on the counting of the notes so I kept looking at my husband and the process of counting he money. Finally it was all stacked up and given to my husband and he put them in his bag..

When we got in our car..my husband took out the money again and wanted to give 1 million Rupiahs to me. So he gave me 1 million Rupiahs but left in his hands only 1.2 million Rupiahs! We counted again and again and at last we realized we have been conned by those money changers and it must have been black magic of some kind coz we didn’t even stop to spend on anything yet! Suddenly my husband remembered that he felt a bit dizzy during the process of counting the money and a breeze of wind came blowing on them at one point before the handed to him. Well you know it didn’t end there…

I went into a shop and wanted to purchase a short dress… then when I took out my wallet to pay …abracadabra …..all the 1 million Rupiah notes which was handed to me by my husband…totally gone ! all of them !!!! At this point I just couldn’t believe that all these were happening to us.. and there was nothing we could do coz if we had gone back to claim the money it would backfired coz there was no proof of cheating on their side as the money were counted in front of our very eyes and handed to us!

We thought and thought and finally came to a conclusion to just accept the fact that we had been conned using black magic and we put our safety as priority. If we had gone back to claim the money…for just a small amount of 1 thousand Ringgit it would have cost us the safety of our lives…

The next day onwards we kept reminding ourselves to be extra careful and watched over each other. Until…..

Today the 3^rd of Jan 2011, our last day before leaving Kuala Lumpur, we decided to stop at a mall called Centro on the way to the airport for lunch and a bit of last minute shopping.

My husband were with my kids and my PA Robin was on his way to join us. The shopping mall was in good ambience and I thought I’d just go upstairs alone to get a pair of shoes despite being warned by my husband that we should stick together no matter what but …stubborn as always I told him that it would just be for a while…

I went up and was browsing around the shoes department and I decided to text my husband to inform him exactly where I was. Then a group of 3 young well dressed girls approached me and asked me where I got the glitter powder from [ I was using glitter powder on my arms and chest at that time].

So I told them and one of them was writing the name of the powder in her mobile phone. Seriously I didn’t feel anything strange at that time coz they seemed like harmless bunch of girls.. Then I kept browsing and finally decided to text my husband again to ask where he was and guess what……..my bag zipper on the front compartment of my ‘TODS’ bag was opened and my phone was not there!!!! Oh god I felt there wasnt any no blood in my body at that point and panicked and went straight to the security. They helped me searched for the phone to all the areas I went to and we even tried to go through the cctv but they couldn’t fast forward it. At the same time I was worried coz they couldn’t call my husband coz it was an international number..

Finally I asked them to just page for him by making an announcement. My husband finally came to meet me but there was no way we could have gotten the phone back.

So the moral of the story …. When people tell you to be careful ..you just have to take it seriously. And for me perhaps I was too stubborn and selfish not to listen to my husband as I always get too carried away when shopping.

Lesson learned!

So everyone please take this experience of mine as a '' food for though''t if you happen to go to the land of mystique….Bali.

Empathy & Understanding -Key To Effective Communication

Hi ,

I realized I 've been neglecting my blog for quite some time and it's time to jot down something.

Been cooped up with work and managed to get away with family to UK for 2 weeks for a good holiday. I'm back and back to reality again - work .

My work involves meeting people a lot and everyday I meet different kinds of people , some are nice, some are difficult and some are quite interesting and some can be quite bitchy and demanding.

Experience and knowledge taught me many things especially when dealing with difficult people.

Though it can be quite stressfull at times but eventually you just get immuned to it and it becomes easier to deal with when you understand the mechanics of how to handle it and understanding the why's of the situation.

Yes it's easy to just show your temper as a way to show authority and power and probably you get a temporary satisfaction but in the end nothing gets solved but only makes things worse. Any actions or decisions done out of anger will definitely make you regret later on or feeling guilty about it. This way is truly an act of impulse done by foolish and 'not so smart people' in the past but not now coz you will be perceived as ridiculing and downgrading yourself if you do it.

Let me just share with you , when dealing with all kinds of people and to maintain good relationship , Empathy and Understanding is Key.

Not by talking but just by listening with concentration to what is being said and understanding the subject matter you are indirectly showing empathy.

Try to see things in different perpectives and not just jump to a conclusion and entertain negative thoughts that could lead to unnecessary problems.

By showing empathy and understanding you'll be able to control the emotional intensity out of the situation.

The main thing is to settle the problem and not aggrevate it.

In communication , words are your tools. So choose only positive words and avoid using words of accusations, humiliations, swearing, belittling people or criticizing.

By practising being calm and humble you will be seen as someone who's matured, well educated and charismatic.

It does not matter if the other party is being ignorant or just deliberately refuse to understand but the bottom line is you are doing the right thing and will earn the respect.

Silent does not mean defeat but it shows that you are confident with yourself.

Lets's put it this way, if God created everyone the same ... then how boring this world would be no challenges .. so lets make the best of every situation in life and who knows it could lead to another adventure.....

Adamaya - Multilevel Marketing Business

Hi, it's been quite a while since i visited my own blog. I've been wanting to but been so couped up with my work schedules and by the time I got back home just in time to put my kids to sleep, shower and go to bed.

Been traveling a lot to conduct Image workshops plus juggling the time in between to prepare for my Image column for The Sunday Star weekly and now I have a multilevel marketing business to concentrate on is quite a handful task and a big responsibility.

Just got back from Jakarta to conduct an Image workshop for the Vvips of Indonesia that includes deputy ministers, ambassadors wives , entrepreneurs and the wives of Indonesian conglomerates organized by the Malaysian Ladies Association in Jakarta headed by the Malaysian Embassy. It was an awesome and fruitful experience networking with all the influential ladies of Indonesia and of course being able to penetrate into another market segmentation in another country. It was really interesting to see how the ladies over there really took the initiatives and extra effort to look good and dress up for the occasion. It's quite a difference compared to our Malaysian ladies where they need to be told to do it at times.

I managed to sell all 50 copies of my books and there have been requests to invite me there again to conduct workshops for their respective organizations. I am really looking forward to that definitely. As always, I like to see things in different perspectives and I see opportunities in everything. I was also being told that it would be a great idea to market Adamaya products there and their population is huge . Well I might just do that.... soon.

Talking about my multilevel marketing business, I am now in the midths of doing a road tour with the Adamaya team and leaders in a few states in Malaysia. Since we finally got our AJL [ Akta Jualan Langsung a direct sales licence to trade] licence last month , we are moving aggressively to promote our consumer product label and brand , Adamaya. We have covered Skudai and Masai in Johor, Kuala Pilah in Melaka, Butterworth and moving on to Sungai Petani Kedah and also a few places in Ipoh. We will be going to the east coast after I come back from my AICI conference in Vancouver , Canada and New York ,the first week of June.

This is my new life now.. meeting people from the rural areas and offering job and business oppportunities and the chance to generate extra income for their families . Mind you this is the best business to venture into if you want to have the financial freedom and become a millionaire in no time.

Adamaya is a product based multilevel company that will be around for a very long time. My vision is to make it a legacy for many generations to come and it will be one of the biggest if not the biggest in the world one day ..insyaallah .This is my vow and I hope the universe is listening! IT IS NOT A MONEY GAME . So for those of you who are interested to create a passive income don't hesitate to join us and we will give you all the support you need. All you have to do is to believe in Adamaya.

For the past 2 days i've been laying in my bed due to a bad back. The doctor advised me to be bedridden and i'm not allowed to wear high heels, not to drive for at least 5 months and not to carry heavy things, not too stand too long or sit too long....

It happened the minute i got out of the car when i arrived at a friends's book launch. It was quite embarassing when i actually had to be held in the arms to walk and another friend had to carry my handbag and my high heels. So i left early and amazingly i could drive and it didnt hurt when i was sitting down.

My thoughts were running wild thinking of the pain and full of what if's. Then i realized i should controll all these negative thoughts and tried to recall the solutions when it happened to me before back in the 90's when i was flying with MAS- when it all started, I had a slipped disc.I found out that Pak Cik Ngah , the old ustaz a family friend from Kota Bharu have already passed away a few years ago. No physiotherapies or medicine in hospitals could help but what he did to me was a miracle. I remembered I flew to Kota Bharu on a wheel chair but came back 4 days after that walking nicely. Everyone suggested i go for the operation and some of my friends now who opted for the operation are now suffering from parralysis.

I heard of this special man who is also neurology specialist serving in a few hopspitals in K.L from a good friend who is a masseuse and I went to his clinic in Gombak 2 days ago with my husband.. That day i couldnt even walk or stand properly and the pain was exruciating. What he did was he fixed 'all the alignments in my whole body ' and it was quite painful. That night I could sleep and there was no more pain but i still couldnt stand properly. I felt like an old lady.

The next day I went for my second treatment and alhamdulillah today i'm able to stand up straight again but with very careful steps and care. Its amazing how he does it and i think this guy should be given so much credit for what he's doing .The hospitals are charging so much for all these physiotherapies techniques that only could relieve you temporarily but do not cure you!

So I'm still resting and taking the opportunity to catch up on my reading and surfing the net for some information and knowledge. The most important thing for me now is to get well and I cant wait to start work again. What's life without being able to do what you love doing and without being able to enjoy the moments of happiness with your loved ones. This experience taught me how important it is to take care of your health and there's nothing more important than having good health than so much wealth but not being able to enjoy life to the fullest.

Moral of the story is Health Is Wealth. With good health you can create wealth but with wealth not necessarily you can get your health back.

Welcome to New Year 2010

The new 2010 curtain has been raised and we are supposed to welcome it by moving on to the next chapter in life with much renewed optimisms and super re-charged energy.

Analysts in America were heard saying that the economic crisis 'syndrome' is slowly fading out and on the other note this year of the Tiger, many Feng Shui masters are predicting that it will be a challenging year but we are encouraged to use our personal and individual talents that could land us a sudden luck and great opportunities. Well haven't we heard all these before...they do sound familiar right.

2009 has been good year for me as well as my career development is concerned.

I'm glad that our society now have started to realize the importance of having the right Image for their staff to represent their companies and organizations and therefor the requests for Image Workshops have increased tremendously.

My first book on Image Building titled 'Imej- Diri Anda Aset Anda' was launched successfully by ex Minister of Trade Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz who happens to be my Icon. An unforgettable moment ever.

Adamaya my company, from a HairSalon and an Image Consultancy firm , we have extended our wings to another diversification which is Product Manufacturing , Marketing and Trading services. Adamaya Marketing Sdn Bhd was created.

We have also secured some great projects for Adamaya Marketing and we believe that 2010 will be a productive year for everyone who have joined us.

Then it was an offer to host a reality show on TV9 called 'Gadis Melayu' for 12 episodes.

Then another offer to be the Image columnist for Mingguan The Star for Star publications for whole year 2010.

Then being given the title as the 20 Most Glam by 'GLAM' magazine was an honour.

My hope for this year is to materialise my dreams and vision to make 'Adamaya' a well known brand all over Malaysia , then Asia in the arena of Multilevel Marketing Business.

'Adamaya' product lines will be officially launched before the Chinese New Year celebration at its headquarters in Kota Damansara near Sg Buloh.

Well for me no matter what Adamaya is moving on with great speed and there's no stopping us!

To me there's no point in making new resolutions every year when the old ones were kept unresolved... be it in your career, family or personal relationships .. sometimes there are a few issues/things/people you need to let go in order to free yourself from the emotional burden you've been having that became the barriers and limitations towards showing your full potential and giving your best focus in achieving your goals. Get it ?

'Life's real failure is when you do not realize how close you were to success when you give up....'

Been accredited as one of the 20 Most Glamourous Women 2009 in Malaysia by GLAM the exclusive fashion and society magazine in Malaysia.

The glamourous event to announce the line up took place at The Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, on the 16th Dec 2009.

The criteria for this accreditation was to honour women with substance, one who has balance in their careers, family and social life and have achieved a remarkable level of success.

The other 19 were women from various backgrounds and professions in the showbiz and other industries.

Its an honour to receive it and I thank God for his blessings everyday. Alhamdulillah.

Without 'love' , YOU are a lost soul.......

When all the negative feelings above are created .... and everyone is feeling miserable - not a very good sight ..and not very productive for every aspects of living.

Would you like to see a smiley face or a sad face?

So why can't we give more love? The world today needs more LOVE.

Give and share more love so that you will get more life pleasures in return.

What is friendship without love? What is friendship without care? What is friendship without sincerity?

There shouldn't be any excuses if you have 'love'.

For the ladies , if you are in a relationship or even casual friendship or just a fling, if you don't have all these 3 elements of love, care and sincerity - move on and say to yourself , ' I love myself too much too deserve this. I will only settle for the best and nothing less'. Say this with conviction and head up high! Give your love to someone who deserve it and who truly need it.

An old man once advised me , ' Judge a man by his actions, not his words'. Yup ..talk is cheap.

Hi there,

It's been a long time since I visited my own blog. Been tied up with work and events. So many things happened and I'm just taking one step at a time to enjoy gods blessings and just be in the moment.

There was a particular time when I was really down and I told myself this cant be it and I tried my best to re-assess of what's really important to me and what really matters. So as usual I re-read the book 'The Secrets' and the next few days things start to change again. See... you can control your mind and YOU are the creation of your destiny. The choice is yours whether to entertain your misery or choose to be happy.

Anyway just would like to share with you that I will be joining The Star Publications team as the contract columnist for a year effective January 2010. I will have my own 1 page column to write about topics on Image Building and Etiquette. This column will be in Mingguan Mstar of which will be inserted in The Sunday Star every Sunday of course. Readers will have the benefit of having English and Bahasa 2 in 1 without paying extra and thats value for money!

A Wierd Moment

An incident happened today and I thought it was really funny but touchy.

I went for my normal yearly check up with my Gynae ,..you know the thorough body check up for women to detect any abnormalities in your health....etc.

When I got there I was attended by this new medical assistant whom never attended or spoke to me before this but I noticed that she was a bit reserved with me and I didn't know why. So I reserved my comments.

Then she called out my name to go in and started preparing the room before the doctor comes in to check me.

So I was dressed only hips up and laid on the 'check bed' or whatever you call it. Then she said to me, ' You know ..when I was small I used to watch you reading the news all the time and whenever you read , I would repeat after you infront of the Tv and my mom also knows this. And now I can't believe it that I am here in the same room and I am attending to you.'

Feeling a bit embarrased thinking how awkward it is that we have to meet this way.. I mean having your fan seing you half naked....then I tried to be casual about it and said to her ' How old are you now...suddenly I feel so old..'. She laughed and said ' I'm 26. Then I asked her ,' So why didn 't you pursue your dream to be a newsreader?' She said, ' Because of financial problems la..'.

Then I said to her ' To be a newsreader does not need much money coz when I started I just went for the audition like everyone else and if you're really determined and sure of yourself I think you should continue your dream.'. She answered me ' Its ok, it's too late now but do you know that I became the best speaker in my school because of you?'.

I was so touched by her words and said ' Really I am so honoured to hear this thank you.. but I still think you shouldn't forget your dreams. Don't give up.'

There you go.. at first I thought this girl doesnt like me coz she didn't even look at me when I arrived but for all you know she was very shy. If I hadn't had the sense of perseverence , she would have been misunderstood.

After talking to her I do sense the feeling of unhappiness and loneliness in her. She could have no one to talk to , to share her passion and her dreams. I really would like to see her at least try to go for an audition. It makes me sad to see someone give up without an attempt to try. You will never know how far you can go unless you try.

It would be a waste to just deny a gift that god has given you.

I wouldn't want to grow old and say to myself ' I should have done that coz by then it would be too late. But if you had tried and it didn't work out , at least you know where your strengths and weaknesses are.

So if any of you young ladies and gentlemen are reading this my advice is , please just focus on your dream and you will get it. All you have to do is believe in yourself then others will believe you.

Hariraya- To Forgive and Forget.

Hariraya is supposedly a time for you to enjoy the moment of happiness being with family members , relatives and visiting friends to ask for forgiveness and to forgive any wrong doings in the past.

Though I always thought that you don't have to wait for only on Hariraya to do it coz if you are conscious with your well-being and understand the basic fundamentals of courtesy it can become a habitual thing that you do everyday.

When I was young my parents always reminded me to respect the elderly no matter who they are and never underestimate anyone coz you'll never know that one day you might need their help. This thought has been with me and since then I despise people who are rude to the elderly. I do believe that if you don't respect the elderly no matter who you are or what you are - you are nothing.

I'm writing this because it happened infront of my eyes during this raya in an open house. A group of middle aged intellectuals from various high ranking position in their jobs one of them were the host were busy talking among themselves and didn't even notice an elderly lady with her husband coming into the house. They were greeted by the hosts uncle and was seated in the other lounge.

I was just observing this group of people who couldn't care less about the existence of the couple and carried on talking and gigling loudly.

The couple seated for an hour in the lounge and kept asking for the host and wondering where she was. Then the uncle went and told the host to go and greet the couple but she just kept on talking to her friends.

Finally the couple was about to leave then they saw the host and went up to her to 'salam' the muslim traditional way. The host just sat there and didn't even stand up to show her respect but just coldly shook hands with the couple.

I felt so bad for the couple. It's hariraya and how could this happen. We're supposed to make our guests feel welcome and what happen to our sense of humanity and courtesy?

I hate to say this but if things are not done with sincerity then whats the point of doing it just for the sake of just doing it?

So I went back home and had a long private talk to my kids to make sure they understood the same thing I did ....back when I was at their age....

Another Year...wiser...

They say life begins at 40. I heard that many times before and now in the new millenium someone just told me , 40 is the new 30 !

Yes I agree. I really don't feel 40 at all but I just feel 30 even more energized than I was back then.. I feel that there are so many things to explore in life and it will be a waste to dwell on unnecessary things such as worrying about getting another year older.

Life is a journey not a destination. My wish now is for god to allow me to continue my journey and live life to the fullest.

Through the years I must say that I've learned a lot from my weaknesses and mistakes and turned them into my strength. Experience taught me how to be stronger mentally and spiritualy. Like the saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough gets tougher...' . I have grown emotionally with some sense of endurance.

Being a normal human being sometimes I admit that I do get upset over certain things such as not being able to produce the result you want or getting cold treatment from people for no concrete reason or being resentful over certain things ...but then again eventually I thought... life is too short. They say misery needs company ..so I decided not to entertain those thoughts because it can be very damaging for your well-being.

I just tell myself that, all the garbage in your life is the fertilizer of your growth .

I used to be a person who strives for perfection in everything . Some people like me and some people find it a turn-off. But thats me... but over time I have managed to adjust myself to different situations. I can't please everyone. I think it's better than being a hipocrete and live in a lie.

It doesnt matter who you are, what you are or at what stage in life you are in... just remember this - being happy does not mean that everything is perfect..it means that you have decided to look beyond imperfections.

All you have to do is take care of your health, your mind and your soul then you will be at peace.

Forget the feeling of hate.
Forget the feeling of hurt.
Live life in simplicity.
Forgive and move on.

Change & Diversification

Hi all! It's been quite a while since i jot down anything. Well ..a lot of things have been happening in my life right now and I am just overwhelmed with the changes.

If you have followed the journey of my career , you would be able to understand the feelings of excitement, eagerness and how energized I am feeling right now.

I can still recall a question asked by a reporter from the Mas Inflight magazine in a one page article back in 2002. She asked me 'Shawati having achieved all this..being a flight stewardess then a broadcaster and now an entrepreneur ..what would be your ultimate goal?'. My answer to her was ,' I would like to be a millionaire at the age of 40!'. That was 8 years ago and without realizing it then I was already practising the LOA [ Law of Atrraction] telling the universe what I wanted and it started manifesting for me slowly but surely. I wasn't quite sure about how to achieve that but I guess my chosen path has led me to the point I am now.

I have attended many motivational seminars done by local and international speakers and they spoke about ways to become a millionaire such as doing multiple jobs to create passive income, write books and get royalties from them, sell products and invest in properties..
I have been doing just that , I've been multitasking in my work, I 've published a book and now my company is diversifying into Manufacturing, Marketing and Trading various products.

Yes that's right I have mentioned in my media interviews about coming out with my own product a few times but it never materialized due to so many inconviniences and it just wasn't the right time. I went through a lot of hurdles in the process of trying to produce my products and was feeling demotivated at some point.

But early last month suddenly came a 'silver lining' and my dream came true.

Within a month I found myself shifting to my new office cum factory and everything just fell into the right place.

We are currently developing our own product label in skincare, haircare, healthcare, household care and specialty products simply called 'adamaya' . It will be launched after raya. We also provide special labelling and packaging for companies and government institutions to cater to their needs.

In other words I am happy to open the doors to anyone who are seeking for opportunities to make the extra income revenues and achieve the financial freedom you have always wanted.

My Little Adventure In The Wilderness

13th July 2009

The production crew, the 12 contestants of gadis melayu and myself the host all gathered at Sri Pentas before departing to Gopeng, Perak by bus to shoot for the second episode of the reality show Gadis Melayu Musim Ke 2.

The shoot began during the journey itself and it went well.

We reached Gopeng and stopped by at a Homestay to meet some of the village people and was greeted by our location sponsors and Tourism Malaysia. It was like a gesture to welcome all of us and we were served local delicacies while the crew took this opportunity to shoot how these girls relate to the old folks and mingled with them. Yes, that counts.

Then we headed to our resort and was transported in four wheel drives because the road to the resort was very narrow and steep and the girls were transported in a small err opened roof ...lorry...in the hot sun. Yes , part of the tests.

We were so excited to get to the resort to freshen up and to start our shoot as fast as possible.

Then finally we arrived at the resort and received a warm greeting from the manager of the resort. Nevertheless I was actually expecting a different type of ambience but it was quite 'laid back' in every sense of it. Then i realized that it was actually an 'eco resort' , everything is 'au naturel' , back to nature.. it was really peaceful and quiet except that you can hear some birds chirping and monkeys on the loose...!

My mind started wondering and wondering and wondering further... this can't be it coz i hate jungles, animals and quietness . Then the manager lead Awin , the make-up artist and myself to our room. It was a chalet very nicely built from bamboos and it looked very traditional and ethnic.. but when we opened the door.. there were only plain mattreses laid on the floor and a ceiling fan and oh ..where's the bathroom..oh no ..no bathroom and guess what it was outside the chalet! By this time both of us were covered with sweat and Awin was supposed to do my make-up and i'm supposed to change into my sponsored clothes to do the hosting .

We just sat at the staircase speechless but we tried to psycho ourselves that there must be another option to this situation and hoping that there must be another air-conditioned chalet . So we just got down to work .

There we were assembling in the hot sun . Imagine me in my Kapas Couture assemble all made up trying to put a straight face with sweat drooling down my face! But you will not be able to see this on the edited version on tv..thats the beauty of it.

After the shoot we were looking for the manager as there were no telecommunication system in the room and the whole entire resort ! I found the manager and asked him whether it was possible to change to an air conditioned chalet and luckily there was one but we had to share it with 3 other production crew of which we happily did coz both of us were not exactly the brave type.. you know. Then suddenly I thought of housekeeping services and asked the manager if he could provide us with towels. He replied ' U girls think you are coming to 5 star hotel is it?..[ with a big laugh]. Then I said 'we don't mind buying towels from you, do you sell any?' . He replied, 'yeah we do at Rm 5 ringgit only you can buy at the canteen'. So we went 'oh great thanks'.

We went straight to the canteen and asked for the towels and you know what....we just couldn't believe what we saw...they sold us 'Winnie the Pooh ' towels half the size of a normal towel and it was so thin!

I had to wipe myself 5 times to get dried up...wow what a challenge. Thought this was supposed to be a test for the contestants but we all had to go through it too!At night if any of us need to go to the toilet we had to go in pairs coz we were too scared to go alone.

Under these circumstances we had to tell ourselves that we have to make the best of the situation and just concentrate on our job tasks. That first night I couldn't sleep till morning coz I was imagining a lot of things that could happen in the jungle.....it was a torture!

The next day the girls did their first challenge which was the 'ala commando' training to test their mental and physical strength. Interesting, lots of drama.

I took a breather at the canteen trying to adjust to the situation and psyche myself that it was not that bad but then.. seconds later came this monkey on the loose towards my direction and of course before he got close I quickly ran ..and it was chasing me all over the resort and I screamed my lungs out till the canteen man realized how scared I was and he chased the monkey and finally tied him back to the tree....phew!!!

The third day was the best that I could remember. We went to a location a short drive from the resort organized by the resort where the girls were given another challenge to do Abseiling at the waterfall and rough water rafting. It was really beautiful when we got there even though I've always had this fear on being in a jungle but this time suddenly that feeling was gone and I don't know how it happened. The best part is I tried the Abseiling at the waterfall and I was not scared or nervous at all... it was an amazing feeling and I couldn't believe myself that I did it.

It was a great adventure after all and a great experience of a lifetime. The people at the resort were very friendly, warm and very accomodating towards our needs and planned the whole itinery of our shoot very efficiently and professionaly. The facilitators were very experienced and full of patience with the girls plus they enjoyed their company too heheheh.

Bergaya sesuai usia?

BAGI Sharifah Shawati, cara berpakaian perlu diadaptasi mengikut kesesuaian masa, tempat dan masyarakat.

Penampilan perlu yakin dengan ambil kira budaya, elak pandangan negatif masyarakat

APABILA wanita berumur tampil bergaya seperti orang muda, khususnya yang memasuki usia 50 tahun ke atas, pasti ramai melemparkan pandangan dengan pelbagai maksud. Sesetengahnya masih boleh menerima dengan terbuka, tetapi tidak kurang juga yang menjuihkan bibir kerana meluat.

Masyarakat sekeliling memang mudah menjatuhkan hukuman apabila ada individu yang ingin tampil berbeza apatah lagi yang bertentangan dengan latar belakang serta budaya. Sesetengahnya mungkin diselubungi rasa ‘cemburu’ kerana kurang senang melihat wanita berumur bergaya mengalahkan si gadis remaja.

Perunding Imej Adamaya Image Consultancy Malaysia yang juga Ahli Pertubuhan Perunding Imej Antarabangsa (AICI), Sharifah Shawati Syed Mohd, berkata tiada masalah wanita bergaya seperti gadis remaja sekiranya mempunyai tahap keyakinan diri tinggi kerana wanita sebegitu percaya bahawa mereka masih mempunyai kelebihan yang boleh ditonjolkan asalkan berasa selesa berbuat demikian.

Lebih-lebih lagi, jika mereka berada dalam persekitaran yang majoritinya tampil dengan gaya sama dan mereka selalunya tergolong dalam kategori kreatif dan gemar berfesyen, namun tidak semestinya apa yang dipakai itu sesuai dengan mereka.

“Terpulang kepada individu itu sendiri kerana ia membabitkan budaya dan cara hidup serta prinsip diri seseorang. Faktor usia dan budaya memainkan peranan dalam menentukan corak pakaian khususnya dalam masyarakat Melayu yang menekankan kesopanan, adat, tatasusila dan sensitiviti agama Islam itu sendiri iaitu pendedahan aurat tidak dibenarkan.

“Pada peringkat umur menjangkau 40-an ke atas, wanita perlu berpakaian lebih tertib dan menghindari daripada masyarakat buruk sangka serta tidak mengganggu perasaan masyarakat sekeliling. Wanita sering diperhatikan berbanding lelaki. Jika tersalah pilih pakaian boleh mengundang tanggapan kurang enak walaupun pada dasarnya ia tidak bertujuan begitu,” katanya.

Beliau tidak menafikan terdapat segelintir wanita tampil dengan gaya berani akibat krisis emosi atau tekanan. Ini mungkin berpunca daripada isu keretakan hubungan dengan suami yang mendorong mereka berpenampilan lebih menarik. Ada juga wanita yang ingin mencuri perhatian lelaki dengan tujuan untuk mencari pasangan.

“Apapun saya beranggapan bahawa wanita berhak melakukan apa saja yang menggembirakan hati asalkan mereka menghormati keadaan sekeliling dan tidak mengganggu ketenteraman orang lain berpandukan situasi yang betul. Apapun wanita perlu lebih berhati-hati bagi mengelak daripada tohmahan dan anggapan negatif yang mungkin timbul akibat pemilihan pakaian yang keterlaluan. Pada saya gaya ringkas adalah paling sofistikated,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, walaupun sesetengah wanita berpegang kepada prinsip bahawa berpakaian adalah hak mereka yang tidak sepatutnya dipengaruhi orang lain, ia masih termaktub berdasarkan situasi berbeza. Ringkasnya, cara berpakaian perlu diadaptasi mengikut kesesuaian masa, tempat dan masyarakat.

Faktor usia juga perlu diambil kira apabila bergaya kerana ia membabitkan perubahan bentuk badan. Apabila umur kian meningkat wanita melalui perubahan bentuk tubuh yang disebabkan oleh graviti dan proses penuaan. Antaranya perut membuncit sedikit, paha dan pinggul hilang keanjalan, manakala payu dara mula mengendur.

“Pada usia 40-an, pemilihan pakaian terbatas kepada yang longgar dan tidak lagi mengikut bentuk badan kerana ingin menutup ‘cabaran tubuh’ berkenaan. Wanita juga harus menyedari semakin berusia, kulit bertukar sedikit gelap dan wanita perlu mengelak daripada menggunakan warna yang terlalu menonjol kerana ia boleh membuatkan penampilan terlalu drastik. Dalam konteks masyarakat Malaysia, wanita berusia sebaiknya memilih pakaian yang versatail dan klasik kerana ia boleh dipakai pada bila-bila masa dan tahan lama.

“Elakkan daripada memakai skirt paras atas lutut atau mini. Pilihlah baju yang berlengan panjang atau separa panjang supaya tampil lebih sopan. Elakkan daripada memakai seluar yang terlalu sendat, hipster atau seluar pendek. Tina Turner masih memakai mini skirt pada usia 50-an, tetapi dia terkenal kerana mempunyai sepasang kaki yang cantik dan sempurna. Jika anda mempunyai kaki yang gempal dan nampak jelmaan selulit, maka tepuk dada tanya selera! Ingat sentiasa serlahkan kelebihan, tetapi tutup kelemahan diri,” katanya.

Pilihan warna sesuai mengikut kulit juga boleh menaikkan seri wajah. Lebih penting, perlu selesa dengan pakaian berkenaan dan orang lain juga selesa melihat anda. Jika anda berasa kurang yakin dengan sesuatu fesyen dan rasa canggung memakainya maka itu adalah tanda ia tidak sesuai lagi untuk anda. Anda boleh berekperimentasi dengan aksesori eksotik atau unik, tetapi perlu mengekalkan pakaian jenis klasik.

Gadis Melayu

At first I was invited to be the judge for two of the auditions in Kuala Lumpur to select the candidates for a reality show organized by TV9 called Pencarian Gadis Melayu. This second season they are looking for extraordinary urban malay women with multiple talents, great personality and creative attributes and skills.

The auditions started a month ago and the search was conducted all over the states of Malaysia.

I was given the privelage to conduct the one in Kuala Lumpur together with Adam Salleh the Chief Editor from Berita Harian, Izza Saffinaz Ibrahim , the Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine and Nurfarahin Jamsari from the Brand Management of TV3.

I must say that I do have high expectations from the candidates as I believe that we women of the new millenium must be aware of our strengths and use them to our own advantage.

However during the two days audition I found that most of the candidates were truly dissapointing. They came unprepared not only physically but also mentally. I mean , would you turn up to a job interview that you so much wanted in jeans , worn out T-shirt and oh my god.....slippers?! Ok so I could still tolerate the jeans but slippers ...no way. I'm talking about slippers not sandals. Bear in mind that this was an audition for Gadis Melayu of whom will be trained as tv presenters. Is this what Gadis Melayu is all about and is this the message you are trying to convey? And oh by the way ...no make up and greasy hair and complexion. Come on ladies , don't you love yourselves?! So what do you expect from us?

Appearance is one thing but atitude is another issue here...When asked what have they prepared to show us, the answer was, ' Oh I just came to try my luck as I just accompany my friend but i'm interested to be a newscaster or presenter.....'. Hhmmm.....should I say more?

I can still recall back the time when I was preparing myself to go for a job interview with Malaysia Airlines as a Flight Stewardess. I preapared my attire a week in advance and did my research about MAS and mingled with some of the stewardesses to get some hints of their work culture. I prepared my own resume not to mention I re- checked and re-done it several times until I was truly satisfied with what I will be presenting to them. To me , image is perception. I always tell myself be the best that you can be and do the best that you can do then the rest leave it to the almighty.

Nobody knew about the interview as my parents initially objected to the idea but my uncle was the only one who said to me 'Every job is a profession and you will be a professional if you do it professionally'. So i took it from there and of course with much determination , courage and hardwork , I got the job and worked there for 7 years!.

It all comes back to how much you want it and how far would you go to get it. Hard work pays and I never believed in short cuts coz it does not last. So ladies if you are one of them reading this I only have good intentions to share this with you. Never be a victim of your own limited beliefs. Believe in yourself , don't hesitate and show to the world what you've got.

By the way now they hired me to be the host of Gadis Melayu. Thank you Tv9 for the generosity.

How To Dress On A Job Interview

The low-cut shirt, fishnet stockings and tattoos won't work here. You have to be a little conservative but sometimes you might not have to wear a suit depending on the job you're going for though you have to consider what you are applying. A pensil skirt with a button -down shirt and nice heels at least 2 inches high will take you almost anywhere.

If it is a fashion magazine or an art studio you can be and allowed to be more creative so you can throw in a trendlier top. It is about mixing and matching but make sure there is a 'wow' factor to it not 'whoops' factor. And the level of polish in elegance between top and bottom must be of the same quality.

At the law firm or a finance or corporate office, you have to toe the line a bit more. Wear a suit that is well tailored and it has to look sharp and amazing. Invest your money here. My favourites will be Zara, MNG or Armani but G-2000 and Nichii might have some nice ones too.

As a general guideline: Choose a conservative base and then put on a piece of personal jewelry, something that says you are alive and not a robot in a suit! Create your personal style and be CONSISTENTLY GROOMED- please.

It should be about mystery. It's about making them wonder. A slow reveal is more intriguing than a full reveal. Not a Pamela Anderson but more of a Mischelle Pfeiffer you know..

Focus on the fabrics and not exposing too much skin. Silk, cashmere or anything tactile work well. This is the time to pull out your favourite lingerie [ not for him, for you!!], because even if the date is a disaster.. at least you will feel happy.

Be at ease, be superfeminine and roll with the awkward pauses. Don't reveal too much of your personal background on the first date and never pour all your problems and weather report to that poor guy. It will be your first and your last to see him.

Be happy and interesting and act as if you don't care but at times show deep interest in what he's saying [if you like him!!]and maintain eye-contact at all times.

Remember keep it slow and steady. What's the hurry?

This is something I truly agree and I read it in a book by an interesting writer named Nina Garcia.

Do not wear a sweatshirt.Not even an expensive one because let me tell you if there is a girl in a sweatsuit and a girl in a cashmere sweater ..and there is the possibility of an upgrade, cashmere beats sweatsuit everytime. The way you present yourself matters.

The nicer you look, the nicer you will be treated. The smile gets more than a frown.

There are some ladies out there who get on the plane in perfect attire, perfect hair, full-on make-up and sunglasses. When they got off the plane, not a single hair out of place! I am not saying that we all need to look this perfect but we should meet halfway between perfection and sweatpants.

One tip I can share with you is that never to sleep with your back of the head lying flat on the head rest.. coz when you get up it will be so flat and not a very good site from the side view. What you can do is to lift up your hair and pin it up before leaning on the head rest. Get your hair blowed curl at the salon and pin it up on the plane. When it lands just let go the pins and you'll have very natural curls and ready to face the world!

Every time when i meet a group of girlfriends there was never a time I didn't hear any complains about someone being treated badly by the opposite sex either it's their husbands or boyfriends or some are just by their 'casual acquaintances'.

Sometimes the stories seemed so peculiar that it got all of us thinking that these guys must be reading a standard book of 'Guides To Lure Them Then Leave Them...'.
They say the same things, use the same tactics, same words, same modus operandi.It's like the same script but different casts.

The worst thing is women never learn and keep falling for these guys.Why? Aren't there enough nice guys around or we're just not giving them a chance? Another girfriend pointed out that, bad guys are more challenging and fun to be with. Well then who to be blamed for this coz you knew very well what you're in it for so you must be prepared to face the consequences.

This is the reason why we should all have the Emotional Intelligence. The word 'intelligent' means being able to make a smart decision and Emotional Intelligence means being able to make wise decision based on emotions. Have we consciously asked ourselves why did we 'allow' it to happen?

Why did you 'allow' them to treat you in a bad way? Why did you 'allow' them to dump you or why did you 'allow' them to make you cry? The best way to do it is never to 'allow' anything that's below what you deserve.If you don't 'allow' nothing will happen ..at least not the way you didn't want it to be.

So I would suggest for women to set a 'benchmark'[setting a certain standards] in choosing the guys they go out with. NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS and NEVER SELL YOURSELF SHORT! You must remember this! And if they leave eventually , say to yourself ' so what..we had some good moments and I don't really care coz I deserve better and I am worth it'.

Being able to switch your emotions from sadness to psycho-ing yourself with happy things will make you more productive and more attractive. Believe me ,do this and you'll be a happier person.

This is what Emotional Intelligence is all about and all women should master this capability. Another important habit for you to master is the art of being silent.

Just want to share with you.

Some say, things happen for a reason and some may say that our life journey has been orchestrated by god. My best friend who happens to be a very spiritual person will normally say that 'we owe it to our past lives'and that sometimes someone from the past might come into our lives so suddenly because we have an unfinished business with them in our past lives. Well she does read a lot of Deepak Chopras.....

Nevertheless I did find some truth in what she said after much thought given to it.This is because a person whom I met on the job many years ago came into my life again and initiated something I never thought possible.Then when things started to progress suddenly it turned bad and I was left very dissapointed. If i could recall I did turn the offer down a few years ago and maybe this is the time to get back at me.. but then again I take it as another valuable lesson in life and I thank god for making my life so interesting and colorful!

For the past few months a lot of interesting and wierd things happened to me...some are happy and some are not too happy. I normally would like to just focus on the happy ones and move on. However this time I took the time to ponder a bit on what caused the 'not too happy' ones. I realized that it's all about being able to adjust ourselves in the situation that we're in and be in 'sync' with our environment and the people around us. When I try to relate to 'The Law of Atrraction' written by Michael Lozier again and again...it does make sense and now I believe that it's all about this new word 'syncronicity'. Everything has to be on the same 'frequency'. Like attracts like. If not don't push it.

This word RSVP is a french word that means 'responde seevou plei' [spelling not sure but thats how it sounds]or in english 'please respond'.

This word has been widely used and printed in invitation cards but not many understand or choose not to understand or pretend not to understand what it means.

Most oftenly the invitation card also states 'RSVP before...the date but most oftenly what happens is that either the invitees reply the last minute on the day of the function itself and expect to be given a seat or never reply at all but just turn up at the function or replied to turn up to the function but never came!The most common one will be 'I was not well'. This is the culture in Malaysia.

By doing all of the above we are showing disrespect and being inconsiderate to the host. It means that the host is not important and you can't be bothered with whatever inconviniences that will happen to her as a result of your doing.Unless you are really genuine then your conscience is clear. Ask yourself how would you feel if it happens to you at your function?

Lets start making a conscious effort from now on.

My Book Launch 18th April 2009 PWTC!

My dream came true finally. It's true what i believed that it's not God's denial but God's delay. My mom always say to me that whatever you wish for just ask from god and he'll give it to you. And he finally did.

I started writing four years ago about my experiences and then I took up a course in Image Consulting in Singapore & London. I found that the techniques and what they have taught me would be a waste if not documented. I owe it to Ms Christina Ong the Principal Consultant from Academy of Image Mastery, Singapore. A very charismatic lady full of grace and a person with a big heart who's willing to share with me her knowledge an expertise in this book as my guidance.

I finished all the chapters 2 years ago but could not publish it because I could not afford it. I looked for sponsors from individuals, companies, ministries and also entrepreneur development organizations but there were only empty promises.
There was a time when I just wanted to give up on the book and just forget about it. I felt as if there was no point initiating anything good in this country. People will only give you the attention if you are somebody important to be associated with...like the Prime Ministers wife...etc.

One fine day I was invited to do a talk for a bank organized by Karangkraf Publication house in Kuala Lumpur. It went really well and after that I was approached by the publication house Buku Prima a subsidiary of Karangkraf . She asked me if i was interested to write a book on Image as there is a demand for it in Bahasa. So far there wasn't any book about Image in bahasa. When i heard that, my heart was pumping really fast and of course I said yes and we got into a discussion and i signed the contract right away!

We started the project right away because I had completed all the chapters and did the shooting in October last year. The lay out was completed only in early March because Buku Prima had to finish up their novel books first. There were many postponement on the date of the launch due to Umno assembly that was going on.
And also it was also due to the change of My vvip guest to launch the book.
Call it ambitious..but if don't try you'll never know... I wrote to the Permaisuri Agung to invite her to launch it and was supposed to be in a hotel..but of course she couldn't make it because she was supposed to leave to Argentina. Then I wrote to Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen the Womens minister then but she too could not make it due to her travelling schedules.

I tried my luck to invite Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and without much hassle or delay her PA Dato Yasmin called me to confirm that she agreed to launch my book. I always knew I could count on Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz. She is a woman with high integrity in everything she does and I truly respect her for that. After all it was also she who launched my salon Adamaya 5 years ago.

The launch went really well and Tan Sri Rafidah was the perfect choice. Everybody loved her and her speech was awesome.!We took the opportunity to launch it at the same time of the book fair that is being held in PWTC. We also have a booth there.I was told that the book is currently selling very well by the publisher thank god!!

It was indeed a memorable day for me and what more all my family members were there to support me. Most of my close friends turned up.

On top of that i consider myself very lucky to have a team of committee members who were so dedicated to make the event a successful one. I am also grateful to my BFF Marianne Liow for her endless effort to assist me and be there for me in my most trying times and happy times.

As a conclusion, i believe that you have to have faith in whatever you do and never give up. Stay away from toxic friends because the are just.. well toxic to you. Never forget your family and of course the almighty -God.

'Thats mean' ?

What's with this 'thats mean' thing?

That's it . I've been hearing too much of this 'thats mean' and i can't stand it anymore.

To my amusement the people who used these words were from the high ranking post in an international organization and nobody dares to correct them.

I think it's about time these people are told and corrected because it reflects on your Image and the company that you work for. I mean.. here you are smartly dressed in your most expensive suit but you are not being 'Congruent' with your corporate Image when it's not in sync with your verbal communication. So I am suggesting that , all the top people in the company must attend the Image Workshop on Communication Skills first before sending us their staff.

I believe if you want change then you have to change first.

Yes , clothes do communicate messages but how you communicate and the choice of words you use tells a lot more about you - educated or not?

So for goodness sake it is 'that means' not 'thats mean'.

What is Image Consulting?

'So you're an Image Consultant...interesting...but what actually do you do?'- this is one of the question frequently asked to me at social functions and gatherings. I had to keep repeating myself over and over again untill i get to the last person I just said 'Oh I dress naked bodies!' and they go 'ooooohh' with mouth wide open. Hahahaha love doing that sometimes..

You can't blame them coz though Image Consulting services have been around for quite some time but not many people understand what it's all about and the importance of potraying the right image for individuals, companies & organizations.

In the United States, Image Consulting has gone beyond recognition. Almost everyone in various industries admit that a professional image that represent oneself and an organization is crucial as far as branding is concerned.

I would like to quote Donald Trump for saying ' in order to be successful you have to look successful first', in his book 'Think Big and Kiss Ass'. He managed to close a deal just by dressing the best that he could be. First Impression is very very important.

Yes , clothes do communicate messages. What you wear says a lot about you in the first 15 seconds. After that , what you say, your topic of discussion, your body gestures, the verbal and non-verbal language, your posture, your manners, courtesy ,etiquette ...all will create a significance in peoples minds. You can control what they see but you can't control what they feel.
To control what they see, you have to play the part but to control what they feel you have to have the right tools and knowledge.

If everyone in the community is 'CONSISTENT and CONGRUENT' with their image, then we will be able to increase the standards of professionalism and be more relevant and effective in what we do.

Basic Courtesy- What happened?

I took my son Adam and daughter Letisha to have dinner at Pizza Hut. We were given a table of five. There were another group of family of which i notice this particular lady was very immaculately dressed seated next to our table.

While we were enjoying our dinner suddenly that lady stood up from her table and crossed over to ours to grab a napkin from the unoccupied seat at our table. Stunned.. i just looked at her and she looked back at me without saying a word. At this time my daughter was having a funny a funny grin on her face.

So she wanted a serviette. Perhaps she could have asked one from the waitress or she could have politely asked my permission to take the napkin away from our table! Still I think it is so unethical of someone to just invade other people's privacy like that. It's called invading a 'personal space'.

What happened to the word 'excuse me', 'may i' , 'sorry'or 'thank you'? I thought it is our culture to be polite.

Then my son whispered to me, 'Mom why did that lady take the napkin from our table and she never asked you first?'. So I said to him maybe she forgot her manners....

This is what I am really concerned about. How can we expect youngsters of today to have tact when they are being brought up by parents like that. We have to lead by example and i believe it starts from home.

You can be so immaculately dressed from head to toe but if you don't have the manners you don't have a good package.

That is why Image Building is essential to everyone and it is crucial to have it nurtured from an early age.

Me,

Left school in 1986 and did part-time modelling for fun. Fashion is my passion . I had fun though money wasn't that great but i learned a lot about posing for the cameras, grooming and was given the opportunity to choreograph the fashion shows . Eventually I wanted a steady job and something more challenging.

I joined Malaysia Airlines as a flight attendant and joined a government TV station called RTM as a newscaster. I have always believe in multitasking and had no problems juggling two exciting careers plus the four figure income of course! I can still recall the times when I had just landed from a flight and had to rush to RTM with my uniform and trolley bag to read the prime time news at 8pm. Those were the days... but i treasure every moment of it. Malaysia Airlines taught me about discipline, responsibility and preserverence.

After 7 years of flying, [7 year itch..]I felt that i had a lot more to offer and was deeply inclined to explore seriously in broadcasting. I left MAS & RTM to join TV3 as a full time Anchor NewsPresenter & was hosting live talk shows. It was different when i was Rtm though we were all like a family and was ever willing to help each other , I was just reading the news. I had no training or journalism background.

Tv3 was a good training ground and i gathered an indepth knowledge in every aspects of broadcasting. I was ajournalist, scriptwriter, editor , producer and presenter. Another interesting experience that can't be bought.

I've always love beauty and i have kept a promise to myself that one day i would set up my own beauty centre. Through the years i did my networking with various people in the industry who eventualy became my close friends. After almost 8 years I decided to follow my dreams and left TV3 to set up Adamaya Salon, my own hairsalon. I believe in investing in knowledge so i took up a long distant learning course on Busines Management and got my Bachelors Degree. Then took up a course in Hairdressing got my Diploma after 8 months to fully equip myself in my new chosen field. Now we have diversified our business to Image Consultancy.

I took up a course in London & Singapore on Image Consultancy and have been certified as an Image consultant & a proud member of the Association of Image Consultants International, AICI. I have so much passion in my job that i really feel the need to document it and my vision is to help raise the standards of professionalism of the people of this country . I am hoping that schools and colleges could start a new syllabus specifically on Image Building among the students to cultivate good habits from an early age. My latest project is authoring a book called 'Imej- Diri Anda Aset Anda' [Image-You Are Your Best Asset]. It is an interactive referrence and motivational coffee table book about Image Building & Self Branding for career, relationship & personal development towards enhancing professionalism & effective individuals in the community. Through this book I hope i could collaborate with the government ministries such as the Ministry of Women & Community Development to organize workshops targeted to teenagers, single mothers and working individuals to become more relevant and effective.

Well thats just sharing with you what i have in mind.
